On behalf of The Arc of Maryland leadership, we wish to express our most sincere appreciation to you for funding the FY 2007 Budget for the Developmental Disabiliities Administration and passage of The Arc's priority bills for disability rights and services.

The Governor's FY 2007 DDA Budget provides full funding for Transitioning Youth with Developmental Disabilties who are exiting schools in May and June 2005; the Community Direct Support Workers' Wage Initiative; and funding for 1225 of the 16,000 individuals on the DDA Waiting List. We will continue to urge the Governor to provide funds to enable those persons living in institutions to receive services in the community, as appropriate to meet their needs in the most integrated setting.

The Arc thanks you for passage of SB 447/ HB - Developmental Disabilities/Mental Hygiene COLA for Community Programs; SB 1040/HB 1625 - Privacy Protections for People with Disabilities; SB 734/HB 831 - DHMH Mortality and Quality Review Committee; HB 1667 - Special Needs Trust Housing Program; SB 10/HB 123 - Condo Conversion Disability Protections, and other important legislation.
