In
time of disaster, many have rallied Thanks to everyone for the compassion and concern that has been shown during the recent flood in Caroline and Dorchester counties. No one could have expected the amount of damage that occurred so suddenly. Yet, no one hesitated, but reacted swiftly. Many have praised their quick thinking and actions. While there have been those in the recent past who have not responded well in the face of disaster, our people rose to the challenge effectively. When I consider the struggles over recent weeks, I am reminded Martin Luther King Jr., who said, The ultimate measure of a person is not where they stand in moments of comfort and convenience, but where they stand in times of challenge and controversy. Many citizens have felt at times despondent and lost about their situations. Yet so many have taken the time to side aside their fears and bring light to their condition. Sometimes, it is not just about the physical damage that these disasters bring, but the emotional damage as well. Thank you all for being a role model and a force of encouragement to our citizens.
