ANNAPOLIS — Sen. Richard F. Colburn, R-37-Mid-Shore, said two bills he sponsored have upcoming hearings before the Senate Finance Committee.

The Senate Finance Committee will hear Senate Bill 765 (Workers’ Compensation — Presumptions — Lyme Disease) on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 1 p.m. Colburn said his bill would repeal a requirement that a paid law enforcement employee of the Department of Natural Resources has to demonstrate he or she received a Lyme disease vaccination in order to qualify for a presumption of a occupational disease that can be compensated for under Maryland’s Workers’ Compensation law.

On Thursday, Feb. 23, at 1 p.m., the Finance Committee will hear SB 737 (State Lottery — Revenues for Community and Recreation Centers), a bill cosponsored by Colburn and Sen. Nathaniel J. McFadden (D-45-Baltimore City).

SB 737 requires the state comptroller to distribute specified lottery proceeds to counties for community and recreation centers for certain purposes. It would also provide a method by which the amount of lottery proceeds would be distributed to the counties. The bill specifies that the proceeds are intended to provide additional revenues for community and recreation centers and may not supplant other revenue distributed to community and recreation centers.
