Release: Senator Colburn Announces Re-election Bid CAMBRIDGE Senator Richard F. Colburn (R. 37th District) announced today that he would officially file to run for re-election to the State Sentate in Annapolis on Thursday, April 20. Senator Colburn emphasized his pro business voting record, his work with the agriculture and seafood industries as well as verterans groups and volunteer fire companies. He also spoke of his long involvement in many eastern shore transportation improvement projects - The Malkus Bridge (over the Choptank River); the Vienna and Sharptown Bridges (over the Nanticoke River); and the Salisbury bypass. Colburn stated, "I want to continue to press for the dualization of Maryland Route 404, completion of a new Dover Bridge (over the Choptank River), and to address municipal highway safety and traffic concerns in Easton, East New Market, Church Creek, Oxford, Preston, Queen Anne and Hillsboro as well as across the 37th district." Colburn also expressed his displeasure with the 2006 Maryland General Assembly Sessions and blamed many of its failures on the lack of a two party system. Colburn concluded, "The best asset that any legislator can bring to the citizenry is good constituent service. I have worked on constituent issues ever since I was elected to the Maryland General Assembly. I believe that is a proven ability and hard work at the grassroots level that makes a difference. For these reasons I will seek re-election in 2006." |
